Villarreal rumors, summer plans, and more

The Atletico Madrid-Villarreal benefit for Lorca is now expected to be held in August.

Current players first: Gonzalo visits Dr. Gastaldi in Valencia today to see how his leg is progressing after surgery; Giuseppe Rossi welcomes summer with the first dip of the season in his pool (isn't Twitter wonderful!) and Marca reports Marcos Senna's agent will arrive soon and try to work out a short-term deal with Villarreal.

As already reported, Mateo Musacchio joins Marco Ruben in the first list for the Argentina friendlies against Poland and Nigeria in June, and could make it to the Copa America as well. Great news.

Cani isn't saying anything about the linesman's stamp on his foot, though some of his teammates did.

Transfer rumors: Rossi says he doesn't know anything about Barca's supposed interest.  Villarreal is perhaps interested in signing Valencia keeper César as a backup to Diego López.  Look at the list of players Valencia may cast aside!  Wow.  Banega, Stankie, David Navarro (good riddance).

And AS and elvillarreal both report Villarreal may be interested in Alessandro Diamanti, whose Italian club Brescia has just been relegated.  No jokes about diamonds in the rough, please.

Summer plans: immediately after the season's end Villarreal travels to Hong Kong for a friendly match against Hong Kong Kitchee, then will have about a month and a half off before getting back together in early July.  It sounds like Ireland or Spain will be the base for the preseason camp, then the team will go to China and play a couple of friendlies there, then return to Vila-real and the Sports City for final preparations.

Somewhere in here Atletico Madrid and Villarreal will play a benefit match for the Lorca victims--it was hoped to have it earlier, but schedule conflicts mean it will be a preseason friendly.

Enjoy the day, and ENDAVANT VILLARREAL!!
