Thread: Villarreal B vs. Numancia

A model for Toño: Joan Oriol.

Villarreal B has started the 2011-12 campaign in inconsistent fashion. Manager José Molina's bunch appears to have more talent than the squad he inherited at the end of last season. However, this year's side lacks the killer instinct of our first squad in the Segunda.

Today brings a visit from perennial mid-table dwellers CD Numancia. The team from Soria in Castile y León has spent four seasons in the top flight, but most of its history has come in the Tercera Regional. Sounds familiar. A plucky bunch, with a few bits of quality from strikers del Pino and Natalio. A side we should beat at the Mini Estadi.

Molina has his usual shuffled deck of players:

Keepers: Diego Mariño, Jorge.
Defenders: Kiko Olivas, Dorian Dervite, Toño, Mano, Carlos Tomás, Pere Martínez.
Midfielders: Gonzalo Castellani, Lucas Porcar, Fofo, Marcos Gullón, Iriome, Toribio, Llorente.
Strikers: Kike López, Airam Cabrera, Joselu.

Absent are: Jaume Costa (five yellow cards), Florian Lejeune (with A team), and Joan Truyols (long-term injury). So Toño should get the start at left back, while Joselu will attempt to bolster his long shot pichichi prospects. That's what success gets you, son.

The match begins at 12 noon Eastern Time. Radio Nou will have whip-around radio coverage of this non-televised encounter. Thanks, Mediapro. Endavant minisubmarino!
