Match Preview: Villarreal - Levski Sofia

New, comments

Very short preview tonight, because my train broke down on the way home, and to say the least, it has not been the most enjoyable or restful evening.

Levski Sofia arrive in Vila-Real to face a Villarreal side that has been a bit impotent in La Liga, scoring only twice in two matches. This is a sharp drop from the performance in two matches against NAC Breda, during which Villarreal found the back of the net nine times. Nothing against Levski Sofia, but getting back into the European side of the competition against a club not used to playing against the type of competition Villarreal represents might be just the tonic the Yellow Submarine is looking for to get over this brief non-scoring malady. Not to mention, Levski has a derby over the coming weekend against CSKA Sofia, so their minds might be a little elsewhere.

Villarreal are nearly at full strength; only captain Marcos Senna remains sidelined, as Nilmar has returned. Technical decisions were Fuentes, Cazorla, and Angel. Here is the squad:

Keepers: Diego López and Oliva.
Defenders: Javi Venta, Gonzalo, Marcano, Godín and Capdevila.
Midfielders: David Fuster, Bruno, Escudero, Pires, Ibagaza, Eguren and Cani.
Forwards: Jonathan Pereira, Llorente, Nilmar and Rossi.

Valverde has acknowledged that Nilmar will get the start. Otherwise, here is my best guess:

Diego López
Javi Venta - Gonzalo - Godín - Marcano
Cani - Fuster - Bruno - Pires
Jonathan Pereira - Nilmar

Not much else to say tonight, other than ENDAVANT!
