Hernán Pérez

The young Paraguayan is the latest investment in South American talent made by the club. Signed from Libertad in his homeland for an unknown fee he is contracted to the club for the next five seasons.

So who is he? Well since having made his first team debut aged 17 he has been touted as the next big prospect in Paraguayan football. He was a member of their U-20 side that competed in the South American Youth Championships in Venezuela earlier this year. He notched up an impressive 5 goals in 7 games making him joint top scorer, some of them absolute scorchers. As to where he plays, I think he's a second striker/attacking midfielder. An attacker, from what I've watched he seems to be quite fast with decent skill.

I'm not sure who he will play with next season. The non-EU limit was discussed in the comments in the previous post and it's still unclear what the exact rules are. If alex is correct and the limit is 2 then there has to be a problem. Ideally it would be great to have Flores, Montero, Perez, Dutra and Renan playing with the B team. It would give them a great chance to get game time and it would also be good for the B team itself. Staying in the Segunda is very important for the future of the club. Hopefully some of them have got European connections so this problem can be sorted. At the moment Flores, Montero, Dutra and Renan are all named as being in the B squad on the official site.

In other news Valverde has announced his squad for tomorrows match against French champions Bordeaux :

Keepers: Oliva y Juan Carlos.
Defenders: Joan Oriol, Javi Venta, Gonzalo, Godín, Marcano y Ángel.
Midfielders: Eguren, Pires, Ibagaza, David Fuster, Escudero, Matilla, Cani y Bruno.
Strikers: Marco Ruben, Jonathan, Llorente y Montero.

Montero, Oriol and Matilla are all included. The returning internationals along with Marcos Senna and Nilmar were not considered.

Edit - Just checked Robert Flores' full name : Robert Mario Flores Bistolfi. Now that sounds quite Italian to me! Possibilities!
