Injury Update

Joan Capdevila left the match late yesterday with a strained muscle in the back of his left thigh. He does not believe he tore anything, and hopes to be back for next weekend's match against Sevilla.

Although not an injury, Angel picked up a red card (two yellows), and will now be suspended next weekend. Villarreal are considering an appeal of his first yellow card (the second one was very clear).

Villarreal are actually facing a bit of a defensive conundrum when it comes to cautions, as important players sit on the cusp of being suspended for some of the most difficult matches of the season. Angel is suspended for next match, and Gonzalo (9), Fuentes (4), and Eguren (9) all sit one yellow card away from a mandatory suspension themselves. They will have to be very cautious, but it seems inevitable that cautions are on the horizon, especially with who we will be playing. Not sure if it might be a good idea to tactically forego everyone for one match (i.e., have everyone pick up the required card for a suspension against Sevilla, and throw in the towel against Barcelona before we even head north, so as to be fully-staffed against Madrid and Valencia).
