Thanks to the "anonymous tipster", I saw this link when I woke up this morning. Villarreal have offered Pires a renewed contract for next year. The catch - it is at a reduced salary. The article attempts to make clear that the reduction is only because of the economy. That being said, Pires apparently has a couple of offers from teams in smaller leagues willing to pay more. Hopefully he will stay around another year. He is getting older, but his skills are still there, and he brings a good atmosphere to the club, as well as leadership. I am keeping my fingers crossed!
