Trouble in the Rear Guard

Well, Godin's yellow card appeal was denied, so he is officially suspended for Sunday's match against Atletico Madrid. And from there, things go from bad to worse. Gonzalo is, of course, still injured, and will not be available. Pascal Cygan has picked up a knock in training, and will not be available for the match. Now, if you math skills are with you, you will have done something along the lines of this: "4-3=1". Yep, only one central defender (Fuentes) will be available against one of the most tenacious offenses in Spain on Sunday, on Atletico's home pitch. Needeless to say, things are not looking good for keeping a clean sheet! It is likely that Senna or Eguren could be pulled back to form a makeshift back line, but if anyone goes down, we are in trouble.

Did I mention that Angel is to miss the match? So, only one right back, one central defender, and one left back. Sheesh.

Other notes:

Villarreal have been linked to Espanyol's Moises Hurtado, a midfielder/defender (something similar to Edmilson's role). His buyout clause is 12m euros, but I am sure Villarreal would not pay that. It is certain to be reduced if Espanyol drop to the second division.

This is a good television stretch for Villarreal (I guess that email I sent GolTV must have worked!) :) The Yellow Submarine's Sunday match against Atletico will be on GolTV on Sunday at 2pm eastern. In all likelihood, they will again be televised next week against Athletic, as they will be playing one of the later Sunday matches.
