It wasn't the most convincing win, but it was a win, and we haven't had one of those in a long, long time. Perhaps the most important thing to take from the match is Nilmar got his first Liga goal, which will surely give confidence to a guy who has been getting more and more dangerous as of late. The goal was a thing of beauty, starting with Marcano's defensive work, and then the link-up between Llorente, Escudero, and Nilmar.
The defense is still a liability, though. Today, Javi Venta was beaten on the lone Malaga goal, but the goal was not all his fault. The cross came in from an umarked man on the left, and there was little Venta could do.
The entire team conceded a lot of ground to Malaga at times during the match, and Villarreal were lucky to hold onto the win after giving Malaga more possession and a number chances in the last 20 minutes.
But it was a win, and I am in no mood to complain.
