Match Update: Numancia - Villarreal

For those interested, Villarreal go into half down a goal to Numancia. In the 42', Gonzalo was carded for a foul. On the resulting free kick, Numancia took the lead with a header in the box.

Villarreal started with the following lineup:

–—————Diego Lopez—————–

Javi Venta—Gonzalo—Godin—Capdevila

——Llorente—Guille Franco——

I expect either Nihat or Altidore to come on at half. On a completely unrelated side note, Numancia has some of the best named players in La Liga: Boris, Bellvis, Txomin, Gorka Brit.

Halftime substitution is an interesting one: Pires for Eguren. The points here are clearly a priority for Pellegrini. This will result in a midfield of Pires, Ibagaza, Cazorla and Senna behind the two strikers. Eguren did have a bit of a niggle with his knee in the 10th, but apparently had recovered fine. Hopefully that is not the reason he is being taken off.

UPDATE 2: And the substitution works! Pires feeds Cazorla who scores from six yards to level the match at 1! Endavant Villarreal!

UPDATE 3: AND NIHAT IS BACK! He comes on in the 69th minute for Franco, giving him 20 minutes to have a glorious return to the pitch.

UPDATE 4: GOOOOOLLLLL DE VILLARREAL! Llorente gets off the stump and scores in the 76th! Nihat, just off the bench, gets the assist! Numancia 1-2 Villarreal! Thereafter, Edmilson comes on for Ibagaza, returning Villarreal to Pellegrini's more traditional 4-4-2 format.

FINAL: Villarreal hangs on for the victory, 1-2. With the win, Villarreal moves into a tie for first (behind on goal differential), with 7 points. Excellent away win!
