Here are goal.coms ratings (mine are better) :
Diego Lopez: 6.0 - Some shaky moments and poor decision making but he got away with it.
Angel: 6.5 - A couple of panicked clearances and had a busy evening against Nani and Evra but survived.
Rodriguez: 7.0 - Brilliantly got back to scrape the ball off the line from Tevez and save a certain goal.
Godin: 7.0 - Solid and helped to contain the United attacking threat without too many problems.
Capdevila: 7.0 - Looked comfortable, a few clumsy challenges aside, but a good all round performance.
Cani: 6.0 - Fairly anonymous first half and it was little surprise to see him replaced at half time.
Eguren: 7.0 - Alongside Edmilson kept things very tight in midfield and nullified the threat from United.
Edmilson: 7.0 - Solid in midfield and got back to make some important blocks, particular one from Park in the first half. Tired in the second half but to his credit, he kept going.
Robert Pires: 7.0 - The former Arsenal man seemed to enjoy his return to England and created Villareal’s best chance of the game.
Fernandez: 6.5 - Covered an awful lot of ground and played a full part in a solid performance by the visitors.
Franco: 6.5 - His most notable contribution of the first half was a yellow card. Should have opened the scoring on the hour mark but was unfortunate to see his shot rebounded off the inside of the post.
Cazorla: 7.0 - Came on at half time and also made an immediate impact with a run into the box which almost produced a chance. His running on the ball ensured Villarreal posed a much greater threat in the second period.
Ibagaza: 6.0 - Came on for Pires but produced relatively litte.
