With all the furore regarding the transfer of Jozy Altidore, the rumoured acquisition of the 22 year old Uruguayan has gone largely unnoticed. Robert Mario Flores currently plies his trade in Uruguay with Club Atletico River Plate de Montevideo. An attacking midfielder/winger Flores is quick and is also described as having a good eye for a pass. River are currently top of the Clausura and are looking to close it out this weekend. Flores has been a key part of the side and scored a winner against Wanderers two weeks ago.
So where would he fit in? Well my translation skills are not too exemplary and I have found it hard to find a lot of definite information regarding this deal. It seems that if signed (he may be already, Im not sure!) then Flores will be shipped out to Recreativo straight away ala Martin Caceres.
I cant really give a proper opinion on whether this would be a good deal or not due to the fact that information is so scare on the player and the supposed transfer (took me ten minutes to find a photo!). One thing I can go on though is our previous Uruguayan import, Caceres, whoever is doing the scouting over there certainly got that one right and if Flores is as successful in Spain then it would be another piece of great business by the board.
