Together those players have scored 35 goals in La Liga, surely there are not many other teams who could boast such a record. Nihat and Rossi top the list with 12 and 11 goals respectively but surprisingly their rarely on the field together. Pellegrini prefers to play them with either Guille or Tomasson, or when he does go for one up front it’s usually El Guille who gets the nod. That formation was used to great effect against Barcelona with Guille playing the lone striker with Mati and Pires giving support.

Nihat was like a new signing at the beginning of the season, a terrible knee injury in his debut season had limited him to very few performances, however he came back with a bang and 14 goals so far prove it, he’s quick and a very clinical finisher, he always knows where he wants to put the ball, his delivery and shooting from set pieces has also been crucial to our success this season.

Giuseppe Rossi, all I can say about this kid is what were Man United thinking? 11 goals in your debut Liga and that with a month out for injury. The Italian U-21 international has been superb, he has a sweet left foot and has also been super cool from the penalty spot. He’s also showed that he can assist by grabbing two against Atletico last week. We may have to fight off some interest from some Italian clubs during the summer, but we should be able to offer him Champions League football and we will be challenging for La Liga next season.

Guille Franco, I must confess I doubted whether Guille would be any use to us this year, how wrong I was, 6 goals all of them crucial. He has improved hugely from last season and his finishing has been excellent. Virtuoso performances against Sevilla and Barcelona spring to mind in what is definitely the Mexicans best season since joining the club. He was recently recalled to the National side but unfortunately got injured in the game needless to say I hope he will be around next season.

A quick word on Marco Ruben the Argentine we signed from River in January, he was shipped straight out to Recreativo on loan. He has scored two goals so far which is pretty good considering Recres position. I reckon he will be good enough to play for us next season and look forward to him doing so. Following the signing of Joseba Llorente it looks like Marco will be spending next season on loan at Real Vallodolid.
