That trip to South America by Llaneza might add up to something substantial. There are reports Villarreal is looking at two Argentinians for next year. The first is the sought after Diego Valeri who plays for Lanus. He is a midfielder who can play in the middle or on the wing. Apparently Inter made a 7m euro bid in December, but were turned down.
The second player is 22-year-old Cristian Villagra, a left-back who plays for River Plate. Both sound like solid pickups - and we are in desperate need of another left-back. There are only so many matches Capdevila can play in a row before he keels over from exhaustion.
Also, the rumors on Joseba Llorente continue to link him to Villarreal as the new number 9. He is 28 years old, and seems to have just come into his prime, scoring 20 goals this year. The only concern is that he has never been this prolific before; betting a contract on one good year is a bit dangerous.
