Woe, woe, woe.

Villarreal have taken a big slice of the injury pie and gone back for seconds. After Llorente was dropped for a month last weekend, Villarreal have now added workhorse Godín to the mix. The central defender is out two weeks with a thigh issue he picked up with the Uruguay national team on Wednesday. Who is going to step up to replace him against Valladolid and Escudero? So far, Fuentes, Cygan and Edmilson have not shown up on defense this year. It could be a very cagey match this weekend.

There is some good news on the injury front, though: Nihat scored two goals in a training match against Villarreal C. He looks to be well on his way back and could be ready in a short period of time.

Eguren said that he thinks he will be able to play this weekend. he does not want to go if he is not 100%, but he "feels good". Earlier this week, Helder, the Malaga player who split his head open called to apologize, but Eguren said there was no need for him to.

Finally, in non-injury news, Pellegrini said he plans on staying in Vila-Real until at least 2010, when his contract expires, and is open to a longer deal. Although he wants to take on a four-year project with Chile at some point, he is not there yet. As far as I am concerned, he can stay in yellow as long as he wants.
