Villarreal CF hosts Córdoba CF today at El Madrigal in jornada 7 of Spain's second division. The hosts need a win to keep pace at the top of the table, while Córdoba has fallen short of its high expectations so far to start the season.
Villarreal starting XI (4-1-3-2): J. Carlos; Mario, Mellberg, Musacchio, J. Oriol; Bruno; Hernán, Cani, J. Costa; Bordas, Cavenaghi.
I'd call it an experimental lineup by manager Julio Velázquez. Lots of width to be expected from Hernán Pérez, Jaume Costa, and Gerard Bordas all in the XI. Without Marcos Senna, a lot falls on Bruno Soriano. Maybe Rubén Cani will have a good day as a pseudo-member of the doble pivote.
Big reward for Bordas after a decent substitute appearance. Rebukes for Manu Trigueros (though he has a knock) and Ikechukwu Uche.
Córdoba is taking the field at El Madrigal as we speak. A por todas!
