Time for Karim Benzema to get serious.
The last group stage day played in different time slots. Sad. On day four, co-hosts Ukraine defeated Sweden 2-1 with a double from Andriy Shevchenko, while France dominated England but only managed a 1-1 draw.
Ukraine vs. France, 12 noon ET
Expect an electric atmosphere in Donetsk. The co-hosts would go through with a win, but Les Bleus will defend better than the Swedes. With the first match enthusiasm exhausted, watch for a letdown by Ukraine. If so, Karim Benzema and company will be ready to pounce (get it?).
Sweden vs. England, 2:45 pm ET
A traditionally difficult opponent for the Three Lions. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has already demonstrated his credentials for the Golden Boot. England would be okay with a draw, perhaps, but the Swedes need all three points. If Roy Hodgson opens up a bit, we could see a fantastic match. But I expect the first goal to carry the day.
