That's what Superdeporte says here, and evidently he said so in a hometown radio interview.  His playing time was substantially reduced as the season wore on, but it is odd, to say the least, that Turkey would be his favored move--especially as the league is being rocked by a match-fixing scandal.  

   So perhaps the Canella move could be resurrected, or our other  Joan (Oriol) kept after all.
