Thanks — I would expect to see some changes made for the Saturday match then. But frankly we need these three points, I’m happy to see the strongest possible squad out there. I’m going to go for a 3-1 score with Rossi, Nilmar and Cazorla as the scorers. Endavant Villarreal, cap a la Lliga de Champions!

If anyone needs a stream try atdhenet.tv which seems pretty good. It looks like Rojadirecta.es have a number as well.

Just checked in. Anyone getting to watch the match?

Half time 1-0. Match should have been wrapped up by now. There is plenty of space behind the Hércules defence to exploit and we have been a bit more direct tonight. Hope we don’t think the job done now and relax.

Yes. Villarreal has had most of the possession, for the first 20 minutes Hercules was happy to sit back and let us kick the ball around outside the penalty area. Once we scored they came out more and put more pressure in midfield, but failed to trouble our defense much.
Last 5-10 minutes or so we began to put together some neat attacking plays, but couldn’t quite bring off the final pass.
Apart from Rossi’s goal, we had one other time when he would’ve been n 1-on-1 but it was called back for offside (I am not sure it was) and a fine save from Calatayud on Rossi after a nice cross from Cani. Nilmar was hardly in evidence for most of the half, but started to get some opportunities late on.

A second goal for us would probably be enough, but it would be nice to get it soon!!

Wakaso on for Cani (70 minutes). Thomert on for Portillo—the Kiko substitution has made Hercules much more threatening.

Wakaso to Nilmar, another shot wide

rossi shoots w/right foot just wide on top right
nilmar very wide on left

by jackson on Mar 2, 2011 9:33 PM CET reply actions

Did Borja move out wide when Wakaso came on? From what I can tell reading the commentary I have, Wakaso has been pretty involved since he was put in.

1-0 ft
3 points

should have been 2/3-0
nilmar & santi very wasteful

by jackson on Mar 2, 2011 9:50 PM CET reply actions

FT: 1-0. I’ll take it, even if it isn’t an impressive scoreline – based on the last few weeks, a win is a win, no matter what it looks like. The other relatively important match of the day also seems to be going our way – Zaragoza are beating Athletic, meaning that at the end of the day, we should be 10 points ahead of 5th place – thus, very comfortable in the CL positions, even if it is only 4th – and potentially only one point behind Valencia who has to take on Barcelona this evening. I am happy with that.

by maddi on Mar 2, 2011 9:51 PM CET reply actions

WWWWWWhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwww…that should have been a 4-0 victory at least, but wow, we barely held on.
Wakaso was very active—some good things, a couple of bad passes though when he had open guys at the edge of the box. Still, he skinned their defense several times. Wakaso was on the left, Borja was more in the middle I think along with Mussachio by the end.
I will write a recap soon once my heart rate has returned to something approaching normal.

by Allen on Mar 2, 2011 9:54 PM CET reply actions

wakaso had 2 open shots on goal, needs 2 practice shooting, cas rossi had set him up good, then
valero , but he shot way wide and wide.
he’s good prospect & should get better

by jackson on Mar 2, 2011 10:21 PM CET up reply actions

yes, thanks to Zaragoza who knock off Athletic 2-1. Our next opponents Atletico drew w/getafe today.

by Allen on Mar 2, 2011 9:56 PM CET reply actions

It’s a win and three points that we desperately needed but can’t remember us wasting so many chances. Twenty attempts on goal but only one counted, usually we are far more clinical.
