Highlights: Villarreal 2-1 Atletico Madrid
Villarreal takes the double against Atleti this year, which is always a great way to go about things! It was clearly not our best match. Atletico dominated much of the possession, and had more chances. Villarreal took advantage of theirs, though, and came out the victors.
Also, we have found a new goal-scoring threat in Godin in case we lose one of our strikers in the off-season!

you guys have a great community here! Keep it up. Now all you guys need to do is aim to beating Barca. Do us madradistas a favor.
I enjoy reading your articles. Keep it up. I cant say i don’t have a soft spot to Villareal as they are a team i like. Here is to Villareal reaching as high as they can as long as they are under Real Madrid ;)

We do have quite a good record against Barca at home. Played 10 won 5 and drawn 1.
Barca were very lucky to win 2-1 last season and will not be looking forward to their next visit, especially as it comes straight after the CL semi final second leg.

After his awesome display on Saturday could Bruno be a surprise late call up to the Spanish World Cup squad?
Spain don’t have too many options in this position, other than Senna there’s Xabi Alonso and Busquets, who only gets picked because he plays for Barcelona.

the problem with bruno is his nerves on the ball. still a bit jittery, which won’t work with the fluidity of the spanish attack. but euro 2012, absolutely. the sky’s the limit for him, if properly utilized.

i like that :) . it’s been quite a year, hasn’t it? such high expectations to start. the horrible start in la liga and the europa league. the recovery in the europa league. the agonizing copa del rey exit. the valverde firing. the tame end in the europa league. the recovery in la liga. now all the way from 20th to 6th.
quite a wild ride, with the final chapters yet to be written.
