Around SBN: When Dwyane Wade Lost His Cool

Rossi Pledges Allegience...

...to Villarreal. El Bambino is apparently looking to extend his contract, which currently ends in 2013. He said, "It was said that I could go to Rubin Kazan or Juventus, but I am only thinking of Villarreal. I still have the first contract I signed with Villarreal, and when we sit down to negotiate, things will move quickly. Here, I have everything I need to be happy."

Even if the expectation is that he actually will move on to an Italian side this summer (in part determined perhaps based on whether Villarreal can complete its resurgence into the Champions League positions), a contract extension can only help Villarreal. Combine an increased buyout clause and a good performance for the Italian-American-Italian at World Cup 2010, and Villarreal, if it wants to sell, can demand a very high price. Of course, I am more than happy to see him continue to suit up in yellow.

Also, for those who are interested, Joan Capdevila played 90 minutes in Catalunya's victory over Argentina yesterday.

Nothing is certain these days, but I think Villarreal and Rossi are a perfect fit. Rossi gets regular first-team minutes, knows he is valued, and is close to Italy and the view of the national team. In return, his wages may be lower, but I think Rossi is maturing and may want some stability (and dare we say, a family) after traveling around the world since childhood. Manchester and Rome didn’t work out perfectly, and the big cities of Europe are a few-hour train ride away. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

You’d think he has to leave, as some big club in Italy (Juve, Milan) will make a huge offer if he succeeds in South Africa, but Llorente to Bilbao or Nilmar to Milan would make a lot more sense on its face. Not to mention Jony to Betis, Jozy to England. or Ruben to Argentina.

g.rossi is smart not to rock da boat w/club he is with, especially w/valverde. etc
 i doubt his wages go up much more since villarreal budget is cut now. villarreal will probably redo da contract if he is still @ vcf 4 10/11 season

Manchester and Rome didn’t work out perfectly,

I agree on most of your points , but Rossi was never in Rome…..

He did well @ time at Parma Youth Teams/Academy Jan 2000- June 2004,
when Man. U picked him . Of course if Parma’s Parent company hadn’t gon eBK , then I doubt Rossi would have left .. Also, Italians clubs are not allowed to offer
professionalor semi professional contracts till a player turns 18….

Anyway, Rossi also had successful loan w/Parma (9 goals/ 19 games) .

From what I recall Villarreal out bid Benifca & Viola to get his services. Also. puyol
was his good buddy in Man U and hence he knew about liga,,,,,,etc,

Jan, 2000 – Jun 2004 -> Parma
Jul 2004 – Jul 2006 -> Man. Utd
Aug 2006 – Dec 2006 -> Newcastle Utd (on Loan from Man U)
Jan 2007 – Jun 2007 -> Parma (on Loan from Man U)
July 2007 – Present -> Villarreal

@kqql: yeah i meant the loan spell at parma. they were not a big enough club to complete the transaction, i thought. and as you can see, i don’t follow serie A much; i thought parma was near rome but it’s not at all.
